It was my birthday today. I didn’t plan anything but my old dance mate has been in Delhi for her dance training since last week, and we decided to have dinner together in the very last minute. She and I have been trained for almost seven years in Tokyo and performed together a lot. Even after I moved to Delhi, we have seen each other over workshops every year.

I have been away from dancing for more than a year by now, and do not know how to go back to dance. My body does no longer seem to catch new movements and rhythm and I feel awkward to go back to the training, although I have missed dancing.

Over dinner, my old dance mate and I talked a lot how we see dance, how we spent our time for dance, and realise dance is a part of our life, even if we like it or not. I was almost lost in my busy schedule of work and gave up to learn but she encouraged me to come back to dance. I was so lucky and happy to have her, who cares about me more than I do for dance. I think today meant a lot to me, and I shall try to go back to learning, though I cannot be full time learner this time.
