Kutiyattam

金曜日の夜、これを観て来ました♬  It was Friday and I went to watch Kutiattam for the first time. It was like kabuki with the dialogue in classic language, body movements and facial expressions. I liked that small and subtle moves of the performers show their years of training, and I was happy to find some familiar Sanskrit words in the dialogues by seeing the English subtitles. The percussions were also amazing to depict various moods in different rhythmic patterns according to the scenes, but I couldn’t stay until the end as it was very slow and monotonous, the air pollution was severe, and it was cold. Otherwise the venue, Sunder Nursery, was very pretty place. It would look lovely in day time, too.
